Is it true that in the German Empire all males that turned 17 years of age were conscripted into the Landsturm (Home Guard) and then at 20 years of age were then transferred into a reserve unit? If so, my great-great-grandfather was born in 1880, so in 1897 was he conscripted into the Landsturm?
